Your first visit is not to be rushed. A comprehensive dental assessment usually takes between 45-60 minutes.
After a thorough examination, Aoife will outline an overall summary of your dental needs. From there, we will begin to work out what the most suitable treatment options are for you. It is important that you have options to choose from that suit your preferences and that you are happy to go ahead with. Usually we do not start any treatment on the first day but may take impressions or a scan of your teeth if necessary.
FAQs
Does my health INSURANCE cover any treatment?
All of the dentists at Callan Dental are registered with the VHI Dental Network. This means that if you have VHI Dental Insurance, our team can claim some or all of the cost of that treatment directly from VHI. For all other health insurance providers, our team can assist and advise you on how to claim any fees that you are entitled to.
What does are my entitlements under the prsi scheme?
This depends on your social insurance contributions. Most adults are eligible for a free dental examination and a dental hygiene treatment costing €15 annually.
Do you treat children?
Absolutely! All of the dentists at Callan Dental happily assess and treat children. Regular routine appointments are very important at this stage of life to detect problems early and to reinforce good dental habits. Occasionally we may feel that your child would be better served by seeing a paediatric dentist, if this is the case we will arrange this referral for you.
I am a nervous patient, can i be treated under sedation?
Aoife O’Dwyer does not provide treatment under sedation but her colleagues at Callan Dental have carried out this service for many years and would be happy to facilitate this for you. If you would prefer sedation while undergoing treatment, please ring our reception team who will arrange a consultation appointment for this.
